I finally learned how to cut a pineapple!
I remember my mom showing me how, but when I did it, it was a royal mess! I became discouraged and avoided pineapples at all costs!!
Then I decided it’s silly to do that and miss out on this fruit! My BFF Monica taught me her trick coz I saw her doing it once before and she made it look SO easy & quick!
1) TO KNOW WHEN IT’S RIPE: Pluck a leaf from the center. If it easily comes out, it’s ripe!
2) PREP. BEFORE CUTTING: All the sugar goes down to the bottom of the pineapple so put it in the fridge upside down for 30 minutes before cutting (Tip I saw by a chef)
-Grab the prickly leafy top part & twist it off. I was surprised how easy that was.
-Lie the pineapple on its side and cut about 1/4″-1/2″ off the top & bottom (Monica’s tip: use a serrated knife like for bread – makes it much easier. I agree!)
-Stand the pineapple up and cut it in half. Then cut the half in half. So you have 4 quarters.
-Now you can easily cut the core off each piece which is hard and chew
-Then cut each quarter into 3 pieces.
-Cut the skin off each piece and cut into desired size!
The kids loved them! Glad I went out of my comfort zone & tamed this pineapple fear! Heehee! Thanks Monica!
