Grampa’s Buns

My father-in-law, Kenton, always makes these buns! I finally took the time to ask him how he makes these dinner rolls or as the kids say while giggling: “Grampa’s Buns”.

C=Cup
T=Tablespoon
t=teaspoon

1. Beat 1 egg in a 2 C measuring cup

2. Add 1/4 C sugar

3. Add 1-1/2 t salt

4. Add 1C milk

5. Fill the rest of measuring cup with room temp water

6. Warm this mixture up for 50 seconds in microwave

7. Put 1/4 C vegetable oil in bread machine then add the egg mixture

8. Then add 1-3/4t yeast

9. Start machine to mix

10. Put close to 4 C of flour – add it 1 C at a time

*Dough should feel sticky but not stick to your hand

**White flour was used in this recipe but you can use whole wheat as well but needs more kneading time

11. Cut to separate into 24 equal parts and form into buns

12. Put in baking tray and cover with tea towel and let rise till twice the size (1-1.5hrs)

*Be gentle & don’t bump when transferring to oven or they’ll fall (deflate)

13. Bake 370F for 15 minutes and rotate at halfway point

14. Brush butter on top at the end if you want the top soft!
